GMA's Member Referral Program

GMA's Member Referral Program allows your credit union to gain new members through referrals made by your existing membership. Through the use of a "Refer A Member" link on your credit union's website, new member referral mailings and direct mail incentives to your existing members, you will see your credit union's membership grow.

How it works:

  1. Your existing credit union members will click on the "Refer A Member" link, provided by GMA, located on your credit union's website.

  2. The existing member will be asked to provide the referral's name, phone number, email address and street address, as well as their own name, phone number, street address and email address. Any incentive the credit union chooses to promote will also be displayed on this page. For example: "You will receive a $10 deposit to your share account for each of your referrals who joins the credit union within the next 90 days. Your referral will receive FREE membership in the credit union, plus we'll give them a $50 CASH BONUS for opening a checking account with direct deposit!" GMA can provide other incentives, such as merchandise gifts.

  3. After clicking "Submit Request," the existing member will be taken to a "Thank You" page. This page will also let them know that the credit union will send the referral a personalized "New Member Packet" with a membership invitation.

  4. GMA will collect the referrals weekly/bi-monthly/monthly, depending on your credit union's preference. GMA will then mail the referrals a personalized "New Member Packet" with a membership invitation letter and your credit union's membership application, unless an online application is available.

  5. GMA will send a list of the referrals weekly/bi-monthly/monthly to the credit union for your records, if requested. The credit union will send GMA a list of all new members each month. GMA will compare the new member list with the master list of referrals. GMA will notify the credit union of any referrals who join within the specified time frame. GMA will also notify the credit union of any existing members who made a referral and are eligible to receive an incentive. The credit union will then send an email to the existing member with information on any incentives earned.

  6. GMA will write, lay out, produce and mail periodic mailings to the credit union's existing members and mailings to new members promoting member referrals.

GMA's Member Referral Program includes:

  • Provide a "Refer A Member" link for your credit union's website.
  • Generate a weekly/bi-monthly/monthly Excel file of new referrals if requested.
  • Write, lay out, produce and mail weekly/bi-monthly/monthly a personalized "New Member Packet" to the referrals.
  • Maintain a master list of referrals.
  • Alert credit union of referrals who have established membership, and members who qualify for referral incentives.
  • Monthly mailings to new members and periodic mailings to your existing membership encouraging them to make referrals.
